Purpose: An award to an individual or a group for ground-breaking activity in restorative
justice, criminal justice or social justice. The Awardee may donate part or all the money
to a cause of his or her or their choice, consistent with the vision of the Mackeys.
Generally, preference for this Award will be given to an individual.
-
Criteria for the Award: The Awardee has initiated a new process (including research)
that has a reasonable potential for a significant improvement in social justice, restorative
justice, or criminal justice, or has led a longstanding and significant improvement in
these areas of justice.
-
Nominations for the Award. At a consistent time each year, at the discretion of the JPC
Board, announcements will be made indicating that nominations are open, the award
criteria, the form to be filled out, and the due date. Nominations may be submitted only
by individuals, including individual JPC Board members, not by organizations or by the
JPC Board itself. The individual may be a member of the public or a person involved
with a faith, criminal justice, social justice, or peace and justice group.
-
Selection: The Awardee will be selected by the Mackey Leadership Award Committee
and approved by the JPC Board.
-

-
Frequency of the Award: Annually, if warranted in the view of the JPC Board.
